Jamaica Tourism Strong Despite Unrest

Four days of gunbattles have left nearly 80 people dead in Jamaica’s capital. And with the summer travel season kicking into high gear will the unrest have tourist thinking twice about hitting the Caribbean Island? (May 27)

    Not news. We all know that 99.9% of those who go to Jamaica don’t go through the real neighborhoods of Kingston. Just like most tourist who go the US don’t have stopovers in the South Bronx, N. Philadelphia, West Baltimore, the South Side of Chicago, South Central LA, or any other rough neighborhood in the US.
    Otherwise it is just as safe to go to Jamaica as it is to visit the USA.

    @macks3123, agreed. And why is the cost of living so high in Jamaica? The poor people can’t even afford to feed themselves. They have little or no help from the government.

    seriously, who goes to kingston for a vacation? that would be like visiting southern california and spending all your time in compton. the jamaican north shores are beautiful, safe and the people are friendly.

    Can’t think why anyone would want to go to such a dangerous place. The Jamaicans must hate their own country. There are more living in the UK that there.
