Cuba Travel Doc – Part 03

The Republic of Cuba consists of the island of Cuba (the largest and second-most populous island of the Greater Antilles), Isla de la Juventud and several adjacent small islands. Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is south of the eastern United States and The Bahamas, west of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti and east of Mexico. The Cayman Islands and Jamaica are to the south. The national flower is Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig, most often known as “flor de mariposa” (Butterfly Flower) and the national bird is “Tocororo” or Cuban Trogon from the family of Trogonidae.[8]
Cuba is the most populous insular nation in the Caribbean. Its people, culture and customs draw from several sources including the aboriginal Taíno and Ciboney peoples, the period of Spanish colonialism, the introduction of African slaves, and its proximity to the United States. The name “Cuba” comes from the Taíno language the exact meaning of which is unclear, but may be translated either “where fertile land is abundant” (cubao) or “great place” (coabana). The island has a tropical climate that is moderated by the surrounding waters; however, the warm temperatures of the Caribbean Sea and the fact that the island of Cuba sits across the access to the Gulf of Mexico combine to make Cuba prone to frequent hurricanes. Cuba’s main island, at 766 miles (1,233 km) long, is the world’s 17th largest.

I’ve lived in Cuba for 24 years, I’ve been in many other countries and now live in the US. and you are going to tell me that I got it all wrong?!!! humm! I know the things I say and why I say them. Do you know? or you just listen to the Castro’s propaganda? I have facts that I can discuss with you if you’d like, if you are really interested in listen to a different/independent not official point of view. let me know if you want me to explain

    well, you said it, …
well, you said it, he made many terrible mistakes that only the cuban people is paying not him. we are all paying inside or out of the island. Afghanistan is a different problem, you can justify Castro’s actions because of what happened in other countries. We can do better than that.

  6. I guess it is …
I guess it is romantic to people that live in the plastic world of consumerism. Better to have Big Brother watching you than to live in a country like Afghanistan or Iraq where capitalists have destroyed the country and murdered innocent civilians.

He made many terrible mistakes but I believe he was trying to do the best for the people of Cuba and Latin America.

    Viva la Cuba.

  7. @ …
@ernestonieblachalita yo tambien espero que sean libres un dia…Pero igual odio a los gringos y no quiero que entren en cuba como hicieron en puerto rico…

    interesting …
interesting romantic view that you all have… I’m cuban and believe me when I say that the cuban reality is beyond this video. “1984″ The big brother is watching you. I deeply hate Castro and all kind of dictators. Freedom for Cuba.

  9. so deforestation is …
so deforestation is a problem with you two Cuba and i was thinking it was just Haiti that cut down all its tree

  10. Not much of a …
Not much of a spirit if they allow foreign investors to come along and destroy it. What people like yourself dont seem to grasp is that greed is a human trait not just an American one. You dont think for a moment that foreign investors wouldnt jump on this?

Know what I think is a horrible thing? I think its horrible when a person trashes their nation (such as yourself) yet sit back and reap the benefits by being one of its citizens.

It shows both hypocrisy and naïveté. Shame on you.
