Tourist missing in Hong Kong: help find Ani Ashekian 1/7

March 12010

On November 9, 2008, Ani Ashekian left Xian, China on a Dragon Airlines flight to Hong Kong.

On November 10, Ani Ashekian was seen in Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui and also Causeway Bay.

And then on November 11, Ani Ashekian disappeared without a trace.

Tourists in Hong Kong simply don’t vanish. Last year, more than 29 million visitors passed through Hong Kong’s borders and this native to Canada was one of them.

But according to the Immigration Department, there is no record of Ani ever having left Hong Kong.

There have been no e-mails or phone calls to friends and family. There has been no activity on her bank accounts. There is no electronic or print paper trail. The pervasive digital traces we all generate in today’s information driven society there are none for Ani Ashekian.

Eight months have passed since anyone has last seen or heard from her. It’s a mystery with many questions and few clues, and it’s a mystery that has left family members and loved ones longing for information.

How could a tourist simply disappear in Hong Kong one of the safest cities in the world?

    To go missing in …
To go missing in HK is very rare indeed as it is such a safe city with little violent crime, i have lived here for over 14 years and the one blessing is the knowledge that you can walk the streets late at night without thought. Perhaps the police should focus on places she might have gone hiking
or walking as tourists sometimes lose their way. People forget HK is surrounded by dense jungles, narrow mountain passes and hidden canyons.

her money was not a concern to her disappearance but concentrate on her last known place where she was at the time she was seen no more. There is someone there that knows her movements i am sure. It seems that she was murdered due to no one asking for money or using her money. But why if so?

    Thank you for the …
Thank you for the heads-up. I am going to HK in a couple of weeks. If I come across Ani…I’ll let you know. Almost a year now..but till you find a body, one must not lose hope esp. to all her love ones.

it is a very horrific news, hope Ashekian would be found soon. i lived in HK for many yrs and i know “Chungking Mansions” is not a good place to visit. Hong Kong is a beautiful city. but for any tourists who r planning to visit HK, NEVER go into “Chungking Mansion” located in TST, it is where lots of robbery happens

    Maybe she has some …
Maybe she has some kind of amnesia.

Dont give up hope and dont ever stop looking.

Keep spreading her photo and video through the internet. The internet is world wide. Somebody will recognize her

But anyway, what happened to this girl was horrible, RIP

  13. ceasey0xoogurl Says:

    I don’t know..I …
I don’t know..I don’t even like the fact my dog is micro-chipped by some private company. For all I know the Government will make some crazy bill to own all these private companies in the future. They’ll make some justification up. Better for something that drastic not to exist…It’s opening the door to it being the next sales pitch for politicians.

    Im a Ron Paul …
Im a Ron Paul supporter so believe me I value individual liberty and freedom.

But as I said we are talking about a private company. Not a government controlled program. Although I think now they are starting a program where your drivers license is going to have a tracking device in it.

Anyway, go watch the video of Bob Woodward talking to Andrea Kramer about a new USA secret weapon. What he is talking about are NANO chips that are dropped by pilots and breathed in by insurgents.
    Scary

  15. ceasey0xoogurl Says:

    Wow, to each his …
Wow, to each his own..but, do you live in America? Can you even get people chipped that easy? Seems like an invasion of privacy to me…and its kind of creepy…something out of a movie like Invasion or some other Government controlling people movie.

  16. pestilence4885 Says:

    True it wont …
True it wont prevent death in all cases but lets say you are in Hong Kong with your girlfriend and you split up. You agree to meet at the hotel at a certain time. Well if she is 2 or 3 hours late you can immediately track her to see if something is wrong. This can mean the difference between life and death.

When I have a daughter I am getting her Chipped. This way If the skater kid down the street is in the process of impregnating her I will be able to intervene. :)

Na, people should just be more careful. What would that chip do if your dead already?

Hate to say it but …
Hate to say it but people need to look into RFID chips. Im totally against a government controlled RFID programs. But private companies can do the job and when some one goes missing you will know where they are.

I would be absolutely sickened if this happened to anyone that I loved or cared about.

The world is a dangerous place but technology can eliminate much of that danger.

In fact if you look at Iraq the violence has ended their because the USA is using nano RFID chips.

well, if you are a woman travelling alone, try rent a room for couple of nights there, and see if you feel scared or not.
