What is the difference between tourism and mass tourism?

i’m thinking that maybe mass tourism is talking about packaged tours, but i need a definite answer as this is very important. Therefore, if you do have any sources I really need to know them. Thank you!

the article has references to the difference between mass tourism and tourism. basically, mass tourism are "high volume, low price point" type tourists – esp through packaged tours, back packers and cheap acco/food/travel – to some extent hippy tourism.
