Seaside Heights Sun and Fun Promo Tourism Film 1960

This promotional film from 1960 was discovered by Peter J. Smith, Director of the Seaside Heights Office of Public Relations in May 2008, and was converted to modern video format by Joe
Verderosa of Greenrose Media. Peter had seen this film once before in his life, when it was shown by Mr. Hugh J. Boyd, Principal of his namesake school in Seaside Heights.
Peter spent five years looking for this video inside the Borough Hall. One day, he had to reach high on a shelf to retrieve a box of 8 radios.
However, the box only had 7 radios inside. This made him grab a stepladder and look for the radio. The radio was found on top of a reel of film, which turned out to be the long-lost Sun and Fun video. We like to think that the spirit of J. Stanley Tunney, who appears in this film, and is believed to occassionally make a paranormal visit to the Borough Hall, led us to this valuable piece of history.

    @BJJ1553 It was …
    @BJJ1553 It was meant for that pea brain.

  4. @crapperhousetoday …

    @bostonalext Huh? …
    @bostonalext Huh? Italy borders , Switerland,France and Austria. Those countries YOU mentioned are 2 thousand miles away by ocean. Last time I was in Italy I drove from Italy to Switerland to France. Everyone I saw was white. Did you fail geography in school?

  7. Bruce nailed the …
    Bruce nailed the Jersey Shore. What a great Ferris Wheel at Seaside Heights. Jersey would not be Jersey without “down the shore.” How awful to abuse it with faux Jersey people. Live in Vermont now, but always cool to be from Jersey.

  8. Asbury Park …
    Asbury Park family friendly?????If putting a few stores in 18 wheelers on the boardwalk ???? Bloods own that town! Play it safe! dont go to Seaside Hts, OR Asbury park, Both towns are very close to being the armpit of New Jersey

    Whoa!! dis bloody …
    Whoa!! dis bloody song gets me straight to cloud nine.. Cant stop listening to this album, downloaded it @ DownloadMusic.iV (replace V by m) , keepin listening to it wherever i go :)

  10. @jackbuster Seaside …
    @jackbuster Seaside in the 60s, 70s and 80s was a MUCH different town than currently. The music and the art and the boardwalk eateries of Asbury may be smaller but they do not concentrate on the “north jersey dance crowd” element. there are 54 liquor licenses in town and more are being added. There has not been one violent fight or outburst from the pony, wonderbar or anything up on the boards or down on main and cookman. whatever gunplay happens up the street on 4th…hey, thats all them…

  11. @Liserdd Yea, yea …
    @Liserdd Yea, yea and portions of Seaside are a section 8 welfare dumps as well. All im saying is that while it may have its problems, Asbury is much more family and art oriented. All of the original music in this state boils out of that area as well. Historically its way more vital. I’ve lived in TR for 45 years and there was a time that i didnt mind crossing that bridge for some fun. Those days have been marred by the hard chase for money. Now anything goes, and thats not attracting families.

    @jackbuster: I’m …
    @jackbuster: I’m trying to remember if I actually WAS eating peaches & cream that day (lol)! Seriously, there were some fun times all those years ago……what a shame those days will never come back. On a brighter note at least we’ve all got some really good memories; especially guys like me, from the “over-60 crowd”!

  13. @jackbuster I agree …
    @jackbuster I agree thanks to the gay community, in Asbury. Just like the re-birth of South Beach Miami was NOTHING till they helped re-build it.

  14. @bostonalext Well, …
    @bostonalext Well, there’s thousands upon thousands of them. My entire mother’s side of the family, 16 children, were born in Italy, and I have been to Europe, and have many friends from Italy.

  15. @bostonalext There …
    @bostonalext There you go, just as I said, showing your true colors. I wasn’t too far off base, was I?

  16. @jackbuster I have …
    @jackbuster I have yet to meet a black or middle eastern Italian…

  17. @bostonalext And …
    @bostonalext And by the way, not all Italians are “white”. Italy borders places like the Middle East, and Africa is only across the water. There are many mixed cultures in that part of the world.

  18. @jackbuster you’re …
    @jackbuster you’re a moron…get over yourself GUIDO. I know Italians, REAL italians from Italy. Have you ever even been there? You know what’s insulting? Tacky immigrants. You’re an insult to real italians everywhere.

  19. You’re right: it’s …
    You’re right: it’s not a race, it’s a nationality: my nationality, and it is offensive, even if if its “self-admitted”. So, I suppose that in your thinking, African-Americans with jobs are fine, but not ni**ers. It’s just as insulting, and you are a bigot, without a doubt!

  20. @jackbuster racist? …
    @jackbuster racist?? ok first of all italian isn’t a race. Italians are white. Second, the people on Jersey Shore are guidos, self-admitted guidos. If anything you should be criticizing them for acting like that on television.

  21. No matter what, …
    No matter what, it’s a racist and ugly stereotype, and an insult: the Italian N-word.

  22. I feel bad for you.
    I feel bad for you.

  23. Didn’t your family …
    Didn’t your family immigrate here from somewhere else, or are you a member of the Lenape tribe, the REAL locals here?

  24. And please …
    And please elaborate: just HOW is Asbury kicking anyone’s ass? It’s two nice streets, a handful of businesses on a decrepit boardwalk, and AN ENTIRE CITY besieged by drugs, gangs and abandoned, shabby buildings. Tell you what…let me drop you off in the worst part of Asbury Park and see how long you last there before you crap your pants. You’ll wish you were in Seaside, brother.

  25. Seaside Heights …
    Seaside Heights never took the kind of DUMP that Asbury Park did, so it wouldn’t NEED to come back from anything. Come talk to me in five years, and let’s see how far Asbury Park has REGRESSED. Most of that city is filthy, and the people are revolting: a village of idiots.
