How did tourism start in Rome? How has the tourism and tourist types changed and developed in Rome? Including past and present.

I dunno exactly, but in the ancient time (Roman Empire also) Rome was the main tourist attraction in the world. There was some big Festival and Exhibition that taken place in Colosseum or Terme di Caracalla.
