The push is on for tourism operators in New Zealand to operate sustainably.

A key marketing point for NZ Tourism is to be clean and green and ‘100% Pure’, yet we are faced with the bulk of tourist arriving by long haul jet aircraft.

It’s an important selling point – yet inbound tourists are becoming more aware of their environmental footprint.

One company in Canterbury is now running their off road tour vehicle on waste vegetable oil.

With no scalable alternative to jet-fuel – the long haul inbound tourist might be on the verge of extinction with Peak Oil.
