March 72010

Oshun is the Yoruba water spirit of love, marriage and gold, and one of the Òrìsàs that form the seven African powers. The ancient shrine of the goddess is located at Oshogbo, where she is worshipped once a year during the Oshun Festival.
The goddess is worshipped in Cuba, the West Indies, Brazil and America. According to legend, she has unlimited powers that are especially useful during difficult pregnancies. Oshun is a fun-loving type, but can have a ferocious temper when her anger is aroused.

Traditional offerings are made to the spirit annually to bring peace and harmony, and dance and drama presentations form part of the celebrations.

Budapest – City of Culture

February 232010

In all Europe and in Hungary too, cultural tourism has great traditions. Budapest offers a huge range of cultural entertainment all year around. There are a number of great museums, theatrical performances and concerts of classical and light music every day.
On the other hand cultural tourism and also the demands of cultural tourist have been changing constantly. The tendencies show that instead of the traditional cultural offer of the institutes, a new, innovative mixture of cultural products and services, the cultural experience is coming into the point of interest of the cultural consumer. It is also important for Budapest to keep up with this new trend, highlighting the unique offer of the city with new ideas, cultural cooperations and long term projects, especially in the field of promotion.
The Cultural Budapest Group, set up by the Tourism Office of Budapest in cooperation with the Palace of Arts, gathers the leading cultural institutions of Budapest in order to present and promote the capitals cultural offer together.
This cultural presentation introduces the most important cultural venues of Budapest.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Budapest!

Marrakech Travel Doc Part 01

February 172010

Marrakesh or Marrakech (Amazigh: Murakush, Arabic مراكش Murrakush), known as the “Red City”, is a city / wilaya with a population of 1,036,500 (as of 2006), the capital of the mid-southwestern Moroccan economic region of Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz (#11), near the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Until a few decades ago, Morocco was known as Kingdom of Marrakesh by Arabs, Persians and Europeans. European names of Morocco, Marruecos, Maroc, Marokko..etc are directly derived from the Berber word Murakush.

Marrakesh city has the largest traditional market (souk) in Morocco and also has one of the busiest squares in Africa and the world, Djemaa el Fna. The square bustles with acrobats, story-tellers, water sellers, dancers, and musicians, as well as drug lords by day; By night, the square turns into food stalls, becoming a huge open-air restaurant with busy life that include the infamous Ladies of the Night (prostitutes).

Like many North African and Middle Eastern cities, Marrakech comprises both an old fortified city (the médina) and an adjacent modern city (called Gueliz). It is served by Ménara International Airport (RAK is the code for the airport) and a rail link to Casablanca and the north.
