What is the best Philippine Tourism Website?

March 22010

Posted in tourism | 6 Comments »

Currently, what do you think is the best Philippine Tourism Website out there and why?

If you believe that all the current ones are not that good what do you suggest should be done & how can people (especially Filipinos) be proactive in promoting & helping out?

The http://www.tourism.gov.ph/ is good; but, the Tourism Department can do better by updating it quarterly or biannually.

Other good tourism sites are the Philippines’ provincial and city websites where each province, town or city feature their main tourist attractions.

There are also websites created by volunteers who promote their locality’s main and not so popular attractions.

Here are some websites.

http://www.baguio.gov.ph/
http://www.gobaguio.com/
http://www.batangasnow.com/
http://www.wayblima.com/cebu-visitors-guide.shtml

Add:

Agree with Tina and Jan-na on Ivan Henares and wayspoint.

There are also other sites to check out.

Still, the most effective way to promote our country is by word of mouth; and, how we conduct ourselves, as Filipinos, at home and in other countries.

BTW, Boracay made it again to Trip Advisor’s Top Ten Beac Destinations.

How long has tourism been taking place in China?

Hint: Take a look at a change in leadership of the country in 1976.

Since Marco Polo.

Tourism to China has existed long before any reforms took place in the 70’s MODERN tourism started backup late70’s early 80’s. When the republic of China was founded, the Forbidden City of the QING empire was converted into a tourist attraction,… this was well before world war 2.

Will medical tourism come to the US with the dollar losing value?

February 192010

Posted in tourism | 2 Comments »

I’ve noticed that the medical tourism industry uses price v quality as a benefit of traveling from US to other countries for plastic surgery, dental procedures, etc.

Do you think that now that the dollar is weaker that people will come from other countries to the US – to get a good deal on these procedures. More specifically from Europe where the Euro is strong. Why or why not?
I neglected to specify: for elective procedures like cosmetic surgery, cosmetic dentistry. Not life saving medical procedures…

The cost of our health care is far too high. Even a falling dollar cannot make us competitive with countries like India and Thailand.
