That isn’t a question; that is a statement with bad punctuation – a bit of advice: the next time you need to know something from the people on this website then make sure that the answerer can get an idea of what they will be answering before they click on the link, then make sure that they can help your further by adding additional information. Correct punctuation and wording would be helpful too.

What is the development tourism in Hong Kong anyone>?

February 82010

give a short timeline of the development of Hong Kong?

one of the reason HK which used to be a fishing village till become like today Asia’s world city is its tourism.
in the past when it was still colonised, HK tourists came from the European country the most followed by the Americans and Japanese… the tourists pattern changes due to economic improvment in many countries.. people from Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia were starting to come and the past 10 years, mainland Chinese is in the top of statistic given to the country of origin of tourist.

HK always famous as shopping paradise, whatever u want from branded goods from expensive boutiques till cheap stuffs from street hawkers are available here which its own characteristics. HK West meets East characteristic is very strong especially in a common cafe in HK called CHA CHAN TING.. where u can eat both western menu and chinese culinary for breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner.

HK play a major role in Asian financial. Business tourism is also very important to HK, HK governments builds a ver convenient infrastucrture in order to fulfill and make the city a leading place for holding any business events like fair or meetings.

HK is now trying to provide another type of tourism for more people, Eco-tourism is one of the type the government trying to persue.

Does tourism have cultural disadvantages.?

February 82010

Can tourism drain a nations cultural values. Wanted this for a debate…. where i have to support that tourism ‘drains’ a countrys traditions. the trouble is that i believe otherwise and can’t find enough reasons to support the statement. Please help me find few good reasons that can support the fact that tourism dilutes a nations culture and tradition so that i can (hopefully) win the debate. Thanks for the time you spent reading this long additional information thing.

I agree that tourism is good for any place’s economy. But I also one who enjoys a good debate, so I want to help you if I can.

Tourism for the economy is a good thing, but nobody takes into consideration the problems that it brings with it.

First, in order to provide a large enough tourist base to draw visitors from different areas, they have to build attractions, restaurants, hotels and other support industries. When cities look to develop this economic base, they look to troubled and low revenue neighborhoods to dissolve. Most of the people that live in these areas are poverty level families that have minimal influence in government operations. Too often, they are forced from their homes without a voice in the decision.

Second, tourism brings a wide assort of people from all walks of life to the area. There is an element of people that pray on tourists and are attracted to areas with a great deal of tourists. These individuals commit acts of fraud, theft and more serious offenses against the tourists and the citizens alike. tourists also increase the number of petty crimes in the city including crimes involving alcohol and public disturbances. The combination of this crime increase requires the local authorities to spend more funds on law enforcement and rescue services which creates more expense for the residents of the area.

Third, the impact of the tourist themselves on the area can create an unsettling of the area. Small towns or remote areas where economic development of tourism has been succesful have found that it drastically changes the structure of the cultural area. For example, Orlando was once a small town filled with Floridians. After swamp land was purchased by Walt Disney to build a theme park, the town boomed into one of the larger cities of America with citizens from all over the world. The original heritage of the area was lost in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

These are just few things that came to mind if I was in your spot. Hope they help. Good luck.

Can anyone please tell me the :

Travel methods and costs to the country
Travel methods and cost within the country
Hotel accommodations and costs
Communication modes available

There is no official tourism in Saudi Arabia.

Travel methods to Saudi Arabia – Plane, boat/ferry (I think only from Egypt), and by car.
Travel methods within the country – Plane, car, train
Hotel accomodations and cost – 100 riyals ($27) up to thousands of Riyals for 5 star hotels. We have many 4 and 5 star hotels, and the cost is generally about the same as what you pay in other countries. You can look up all the major hotel chains and see what the costs are online.
Communication – Landline phone, Mobile Phone, Internet (dial-up, DSL, Satellite, Mobile/3G)
